FAQ

What is the CONTROL Resonant trailer song?
The Paranatural Manhattan trailer features Manalan Mailla by Finnish artist Vilma Jää — the first release from Zoe's Mixtape, the game's official music project. It is inspired by the Ingrian runolaulu folk-singing tradition.
Where can I listen to Zoe's Mixtape?
The mixtape streams on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube under the CONTROL Resonant artist name, alongside Remedy's official uploads.

What is Zoe’s Mixtape?

Zoe’s Mixtape is CONTROL Resonant’s official music release — an album project published under the game’s own artist name on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, and framed as the personal mixtape of Zoe De Vera, the FBC field agent introduced in the game’s marketing. Remedy promoted it with a simple “Enjoy Zoe’s Mixtape!” as each track drops.

It is marketing, but unusually committed marketing: real artists, real releases, and a sound that is doing actual narrative work rather than licensing a radio hit over a trailer.

Manalan Mailla — the first track

The lead release is “Manalan Mailla” by Finnish ethno-pop artist Vilma Jää, written by Jää and produced by Jurek Reunamäki. The song is built on the Ingrian runolaulu tradition — Karelian-Finnish folk singing — which gives the Paranatural Manhattan trailer its eerie, choral undertone. Fans quickly nicknamed it “the song of Paranatural Manhattan.”

Separately, composer Petri Alanko’s “Obsessive Compulsive Order” served as the announcement trailer music and belongs to the game’s official soundtrack side rather than the in-universe mixtape — worth keeping distinct if you are hunting tracks.

The mixtape is still rolling out ahead of the September 24 launch — this table gains a row each time Remedy drops a track.

Does the music matter to the story?

Possibly, and the community thinks so. The leading fan theory on r/controlgame ties the mixtape’s cover art and Zoe’s implied history — surviving outside the Oldest House — into music playing a real narrative role in the game. That is speculation, clearly flagged as such: Remedy has not confirmed any story function. What is confirmed is the release itself, and a studio that names its soundtrack after a character is telling you she matters.
