FAQ

How many bosses are in CONTROL Resonant?
Seven major bosses: six zone Resonants — The Artist, The Dancer, The Co-Director, The Collective, The Deserter and The Physicist — plus the Hedron, the endgame story boss fought through the Defeat the Hedron and Sever the Hedron Links missions in Act 3.
What do you get for beating a Resonant?
Its unique ability — the Dancer, for example, grants the choice of Push or Ground Slam — plus a trophy per Resonant. Remedy's pre-launch deep dive described Resonant fights as integrated into story progression with some offering branching choices.
Is the Hedron a Resonant?
No — coverage of the game treats the Hedron as a separate endgame story boss, distinct from the zone Resonants that guard Manhattan's regions. You reach it through the late-game missions The Hedron Link, Sever the Hedron Links and Fight the Core.

How many bosses does CONTROL Resonant have?

Seven major bosses. Six are Resonants — the zone guardians that act as the game’s build checkpoints — and the seventh is the Hedron, the endgame story boss. The full list per the Fextralife wiki’s boss index, which matches the “six Resonants and the Hedron” framing across launch coverage:

BossRole
The ArtistDowntown/prologue Resonant — grants the Barrage / Volatile Anomaly / Shield choice. Fight guide
The DancerWest Incursion Zone Resonant — grants Push or Ground Slam
The DeserterCentral Zone Resonant, inside the Patterned Factory. Fight guide
The CollectiveThe Park Resonant — the Mold faction’s representative
The Co-DirectorZone Resonant — Underpass or The Unknown
The PhysicistZone Resonant — Underpass or The Unknown
The HedronEndgame story boss — not a zone Resonant. See the ending explained

Four of six zone assignments are confirmed (Polygon’s boss location list plus per-boss guides); the Co-Director and the Physicist guard the Underpass and The Unknown, in an order we’ll pin as their pages go live. For the regular enemies underneath the bosses, see Aberrations.

What do you get for beating a Resonant?

Three things, every time:

  • A unique ability — defeating a Resonant grants its power; some, like the Dancer, offer a branching choice between two (the Push or Ground Slam decision)
  • Zone progression — Resonant kills are hard requirements for several main missions; Enemy of My Enemy will not open until the Central and West Incursion Zone Resonants are down
  • A trophy — each Resonant banks one on the road to the Platinum / achievement list

The ability layer is the reason the order matters: the full roster of named powers is tracked on the abilities page, and the picks compound — see best weapons and best talents for how the kit comes together.

The Hedron, explained

The Hedron is the endgame: a story boss distinct from the zone Resonants, fought through the late main missions — The Hedron Link, then Sever the Hedron Links (which requires the Pope’s Research side quest to enter The Unknown), then Fight the Core. Sever the Hedron Links sends you across the map cutting links (around locations like the Patterned Evac Building and the Patterned Field Office), each guarded by waves of enemies running Hedron Factor mechanics. The mission spine is laid out in the walkthrough, and the fastest route to reach it in the zone order guide.
