FAQ

Does CONTROL Resonant have New Game Plus?
Yes. New Game Plus lets you start a fresh playthrough while carrying over much of your progression from the first run — the franchise's first built-in NG+, since 2019's Control never had one.
What carries over in CONTROL Resonant New Game Plus?
Most of Dylan's paranatural upgrades carry over, per Eurogamer, with exceptions for story-gated content — community wikis tracking the mode report traversal abilities among what stays behind. Enemy placement is remixed on repeat runs, so the fights are not identical.
What is New Game++ in CONTROL Resonant?
Update 01.400.000 (early October 2026) added New Game++, which allows an infinite number of replays — you can keep cycling the game indefinitely. The same update also reduced combat in the Unknown Zone.

Does CONTROL Resonant have New Game Plus?

Yes. New Game Plus ships with the game’s post-launch support: finish the story, start a fresh run, keep much of your progression. For franchise context this is a first — 2019’s Control never had a built-in NG+; PC players jury-rigged one with Nexus Mods save editors that carried outfits and mods across saves. Remedy built the mode into the sequel proper, and our vs Control comparison is one more place the sequel stops repeating the first game’s habits.

What carries over into New Game Plus?

Per Eurogamer’s coverage, NG+ “lets you keep most of Dylan Faden’s paranatural upgrades” in a fresh playthrough — with exceptions. Community wikis tracking the mode report the exceptions land on the story-gated side: traversal abilities, which unlock through story beats, reportedly stay behind so the progression gates still work on a new run.

Two things make a second run feel different rather than trivial:

  • Enemy placement is remixed — coverage of the mode reports repositioned encounters, so muscle memory from run one only half applies
  • Your build choices travel with you — the weapon forms from best weapons and the branching ability picks like Push or Ground Slam were one-per-run decisions in the first playthrough; NG+ is where you bank the kit you built and try the other side of those forks

What is New Game++?

Update 01.400.000 — rolled out in early October 2026, roughly a week after launch — added New Game++, which PSU reports allows “an infinite number” of replays. You are no longer picking between one NG+ run and starting cold: the loop can cycle indefinitely. The same update reduced combat in the Unknown Zone, a quality-of-life nod for players who found that area’s encounter density heavy on repeat visits.

Should you start NG+ right after the credits?

Depends on what you’re missing. If side content is still open — collectibles, the optional Resonants, leftover trophy or achievement cleanup — most of it is faster on a powered-up first run before you roll over. If you finished everything, NG+ hands you the remix immediately. Either way the how long to beat math changes: a carrying-over run plays meaningfully faster than the first.
